Protocol
(prt-kôl,
-kl, -kl)
A standardized code of correct conduct
For
RSS to maintain its stature as a viable
internet medium there has to be a
protocol within its internet medium,
one that the industry takes under
its wing as the standard.
It
will be very easy for the huge potential
seen in RSS to splinter into self
destruction, how? So many companies
have placed their RSS integrity into
a standardized XML code that is accepted
by feed readers. That code is usually
produced by RSS builder programs.
If
small groups or the RSS feed builders
continue to implement their own RSS
elements and in-part the RSS readers
don't follow suit people will produce
RSS feeds, that are incompatible with
RSS readers.
Also without any specific way for
a search engine to list an RSS feed
within it's appropriate focus keywords
the industry will not become refined
and found accordingly.
When you look at the RSS industry
in that way it is clear that there
must be a protocol, there must be
one location where the programmers
and public can go to see how this
medium is evolving.
